I started keeping a food note next to my grocery receipts, mostly because I wanted to know what a normal Tuesday actually costs. Lately it’s: 8am, plain Greek yogurt with frozen berries; 12:30, chicken thigh, rice, roasted zucchini; 4pm, cottage cheese and a few almonds; 7pm, two eggs with a corn tortilla and salsa.
Around 105g protein, 1,750 calories, $7.10 in groceries.
The wildcard is whatever fruit is cheapest. Before this med, I’d skip lunch and then eat standing up at 9pm. Now the 4pm snack is non-negotiable or I get weirdly flat by dinner.
Not exciting, but it repeats without me having to negotiate with myself. I’m curious whether other people have a default plate they can rotate for weeks, or if you need more variety to stay sane.
