Since the kids moved out, I've been rebuilding my days around two things: a 35-minute loop around the neighborhood after lunch and two short strength sessions a week in the den with a pair of 12-pound dumbbells and a resistance band. Honestly? The walks did more for my mood and my evening snacking than I expected. The weights changed how I get off the floor and carry groceries, but the scale barely noticed either one for the first month. What surprised me was cooking: I started roasting a tray of vegetables on Sunday and actually eating them. I'm not chasing a dramatic transformation, just trying to figure out which habit is worth protecting when the week gets crowded. Did you find one type of movement made the rest of your routine easier, or did you need both to feel a real shift?
The lunch loop or the dumbbells in the den

Curious what you’re tracking to separate the walk effect from the weights? I’m n=1, but a 0–5 craving score before/after my lunch walk plus a sunlight note made the pattern obvious: outdoor walks killed my 3pm snack urge way more than indoor band work. For the den sessions, are you doing full-body twice or upper/lower? I switched to two 15-min full-body circuits (goblet squat, row, press, band pull-apart) and the mood lift is smaller, but stairs and yard work feel easier. Any specific source for the mood/snacking link, or just your own logs? I’d trust your logs more than the hype.
