Tom, 34, saying hi from Ohio

Hey everyone, Tom here. I'm 34, work nights as a hospital janitor, and have two kids who run circles around me. Down about 15 pounds over the last few months, which is nice, though the night-shift sleep schedule is still a work in progress. Mostly I'm here because I want to keep the momentum going without turning my whole life into a spreadsheet. I don't track much beyond how my clothes fit and whether I can get up the stairs without stopping. Anyone else trying to keep it simple?

ApoB lagged for me too. Mine didn’t drop until month 5, after waist stopped changing. Weight loss alone wasn’t the lever.

What did your thyroid panel look like? My lipids moved once my TSH stabilized, but that’s just my n=1.

Waist down 2 inches in 14 weeks is solid. I’d be more curious about your saturated fat and fiber grams than scale weight.

Mine was similar—hsCRP fell fast, ApoB stayed 105-ish for three months. What finally changed it was boring consistency: I tracked saturated fat for two weeks, found it was way higher than I thot, and swapped most of it for oats, beans, and psyllium. I also stopped changing five things at once. ApoB went 106 to 84 over another four months. Not saying that’ll work for you, but the lag was real for me. The waist and CRP wins usually show up before the lipid panel does. It took a lot longer than the scale moved.

Sub-8 minute mile is a great goal. Are you running intervals or just zone 2?

39M, 8 weeks of logging everything and hitting the gym, down 7 lb. ApoB 99 to 97. Watching this thread because I'm stuck too.

Did you check Lp(a)? If that’s high, ApoB goals can get more complicated.

Lp(a) was 48 for me. Made me watch ApoB harder.

I agree weight loss alone didn’t move mine either, but active fat loss can bump LDL temporarily before it settles.

Same here. I lost 20 lb and ApoB went from 94 to 91. Only after I increased soluble fiber did it hit 74.

Increased soluble fiber how? Psyllium, oats, beans? I’m trying to figure out what actually moves th eneedle.

Psyllium and oats beat cutting cheese. I miss cheese.

That’s funny but real. My ApoB didn’t care aobut my gym PRs; it cared about what I ate.

Can you post your full lipid panel? Triglycerides and HDL might tell a different story than ApoB alone.

Triglycerides 142 to 88 on repeat labs is a pretty common drop. ApoB can lag another 6 weeks behind before it moves.

I’d focus on the trend, not one draw. 112 to 108 over 14 weeks could be noise plus water weight.

Good point. Retesting in 8 weeks with diet steady will make the data cleaner.
