I tracked a stretch from late July through the second week of September without trying to turn it into a big transformation. Thirty-one hotel nights, a lot of conference coffee, and one very reliable habit: scouting breakfast before I commit. The scale went down 5.8 pounds, but the more useful number was zero skipped lunches. I kept a zippered pouch with instant oats, a shaker bottle, and almonds so I wasn’t gambling on whatever the lobby had. Lunch became “find the plainest protein near the meeting room,” and dinner was often soup plus a grocery-store rotisserie chicken if I got in early enough. The weird win: I stopped treating every trip as a reset. It was just logistics. Anyone else rank hotels by whether their breakfast has plain Greek yogurt, or is that just my new personality?
