I keep a Friday note with my weekly average, mostly because daily numbers can make me anxious. This week it was 214.9, down 16.7 from where I started in January.
The number is nice, but the better part is what it bought: last Saturday I did three laps around the playground path while my kids biked, and I carried my younger one on my shoulders for the last stretch. A year ago I would have found a bench and cheered from there, telling myself that counted as joining in.
I still have hard days, and I am not pretending this is only about willpower. But my children now get a parent who says yes when they ask me to move with them, and that has been the quietest, best change.
For those farther along, what daily-life shift made your family's routines feel lighter?
