Seven weeks, same two pounds, clothes still changing

Down 43 lbs since February, which I'm genuinely proud of, but the scale has not budged since mid-October. Seven weeks of the same two pounds bouncing back and forth. I weigh every morning, get around 110g of protein, walk 8k steps most days, and nothing is moving.

Here's the strange part: the mirror and my clothes keep changing anyway. I pulled out a pair of size 16 jeans I'd been avoiding and they zipped without a fight. I started this in a 22. My rings are loose. Photos from August look like a different person.

So I'm trying to hold two things at once — annoyed that the number is frozen, and aware that something is clearly still happening underneath. Not changing anything drastic, just keeping the routine and being patient, which is not my strong suit.

For those who've sat in a long plateau: did it eventually break on its own, or did you have to switch something up? How long did yours last?

For what it's worth, clothes changing with a flat scale usually means fat loss plus water/glycogen shift, not failure. Concrete check: measure waist at navel, hips, and mid-thigh with a tape every 2 weeks. I had a 7-week stall where the scale sat 184–186 but waist dropped 2.5 cm. What are your waist/hip numbers versus mid-October? Also, are you comparng weekly averages or single mornings? Daily weight is noise; the 7-day average is the only signal I’d trust here.

Seven weeks is long enough that I’d stop letting the morning scale be the headline. Are you measuring anything besides weight? I hit a similar stall around 40 lbs down. I started a Sunday waist/hip tape check and monthly photos in the same lighting. Waist went down 1.5 inches over six weeks while the scale bounced in a 2-lb range. What changed for me: comparing weekly averages instead of daily numbers, two shorter-step days, and one 20-minute resistance-band session. The scale eventually followed. Not saying it’ll be the same for you, but the tape might tell a clearer story. What does your waist measurement say?

ngl i had a similar stretch around month 6. scale parked at the same 2 lbs for almost 2 months, but my belt went down a notch and my hoodies got baggy. what helped me stop spiraling was switching to waist/hip tape once a week and progress pics same light, same time. daily weigh-ins were just tracking

Scale is a lagging indicator; clothes are the leading one. When I stalled like that, I switched to a 7-day rolling average and added waist/hip/thigh tape once a week. Scale flat for five weeks, waist down 1.25", same belt notch. Are you tracking any circumference, or just weight? Also, any new walking/strength load or sodium/carb shifts that could be masking fat loss with water? Mirror changing while scale doesn’t usually means composition or fluid, not zero progress.

Hey, hang in there. One thing I did during my own flat-scale stretch: I hauled my bathroom scale to the pharmacy and compared it to the big one by the waiting area. Mine was off almost 2 lbs depending on floor tile. Also started measuring waist and upper arm once a month with a cheap fabric tape, same morning, no sucking in. Waist went down 1.25 inches while the scale sat still. Are you measuring anywhere besides clothes? Sometimes the tape catches what the scale misses.

Seven-week flat scale with measurements moving is such a mind trip. One thing that helped me: I switched to a weekly average instead of daily, and tracked waist at navel + how many workouts I actually finished. My scale stayed put for ~6 weeks, but I lost 1.25 inches and added 10 lbs to my squats. Are you doing any resistance training yet? That can change composition while the scale stalls. Also, did sleep or stress shift around mid-October? For me, poor sleep = stubborn scale even when habits are solid. What’s one non-scale win you can log this week?

Mom of two here. When my scale did the same thing, I started logging the “cleanup bites” — crusts, half a banana, cold nuggets. Sounds tiny but it added up to a real snack most days. Now I keep a snack drawer with pre-portioned jerky, cheese sticks, grapes, and eat those standing at the counter if needed. Are you tracking the kid-leftover nibbles? That was my hidden stall. Also measure your waist monthly, not daily.
