I keep a boring weekly log: five columns, and only one of them is weight. The other four are sleep hours, resting heart rate, whether I cleared 8k steps, and whether I needed an afternoon nap.
Around week nine, the weight column became the least interesting one. Resting heart rate is down 7 bpm. The 3 p.m.
nap block on my calendar went unused four days straight, which felt like a system quietly running cleaner. The one that actually landed, though: the stairwell in my building, four flights, used to require a pause on the second landing.
Last Tuesday I hit my floor mid-sentence on a call and didn't notice until I hung up.
If I could only keep one column, it'd be that one. Everything else is downstream of being able to do ordinary things without budgeting for them.
What's the non-scale reading in your log that moved before the number did?
