Found a sealed ret vial in my medicine bin

I was digging for allergy tablets and found a sealed ret vial from early spring. My small-town pharmacy says they can't take back dispensed meds, and my insurance won't help with a replacement until my next refill window. A chunk of me wants to keep it because it cost real money and tok forever to sort out; the other chunk says if I'm not sure how it sat all summer, it's just clutter with a scary label. Not asking for dosing advice at all. How do you all decide what to pitch vs keep? Do you trust the date on the label, your gut, or your fridge thermometer?
